How do I enable tip share categories for distribution and accountability at the store and client levels?
This article shows admins how to enable or disable tip categories for tip pools and accountability.
Overview
Administrators can determine which tip accounting categories can be enabled or disabled for tip pool distribution. These options will be used for tip distribution and is included in the accountability metric on the End of Day page.
The options can be made a a client-level or adjusted down to a store level. There are two distinct steps to take depending on which level of configuration is needed. There is a minimum of two days before enabling or disabling metrics will go into effect. Admins can select future dates beyond the minimum two days.
Tabs typically include:
Cash Tips
Catering Tips
Credit Card Tips
Delivery Fees
Labor Roles.
Labor Roles typically exclude salary managers. Please ensure that metric is not enabled. If it is enabled, please disable it.
When stores-level adjustments are made, it will override the client-level configurations. Ensure you follow the correct steps.
If you do. not see the tip share confgiuration settings, please submit a ticket. These pages only impact clients who participate in tip pooling.
Enable Client Level Tip Categories
This section walks users through the steps for enable or disable tip categories at the client-level. This impacts all franchise owners as well. Adjust at the store-level will override the client-level settings. Admins can Cancel an addition anytime before the Effective Date Takes place. If the Effective Date has occurred, the user will need to Disable the metric.
Begin by navigating to:
Maintenance > Company > Tip Share Maintenance
Click on a Tip Share Category tab.
Tabs typically include: Cash Tips, Catering Tips, Credit Card Tips, Delivery Fees, and Labor Roles.
Labor Roles typically exclude salary managers. Please ensure that metric is not enabled. If it is enabled, please disable it.
Click Edit in the “Include In Accountability” section.
Toggle on: Tips will be included in the Accountability formula.
Toggle off: Tips will be excluded in the Accountability formula.
Click Save.
Click +Add in the section below to select which Account should be enabled.
Select the Account from the dropdown.
Select the Effective Date. There is a minimum of 2 days before the effect can take place.
Click Add.
Admins can add multiple accounts be repeating steps 5-7.
Cancel Enabled Account
Admins can Cancel an addition anytime before the Effective Date takes place. If the Effective Date has occurred, the user will need to Disable the metric. Navigate to the Tip Share Maintenance page.
Click on a Tip Share Category tab.
Click Cancel Change.
Disable Client Level Tip Categories
Admins can disable tip categories after the current Effective Date has occurred, and will select a new Disable On date for when this metric will be disabled. This will prevent collection for distribution for tip pools moving forward from the Disable On date.
Begin by navigating to:
Maintenance > Company > Tip Share Maintenance
Click on a Tip Share Category tab.
Click Disable on an existing account.
Select the Disable On date.
Click Disable.
Cancel Disabled Account
Admins can Cancel a scheduled Disabled Account anytime before the Disable On date takes place. If the Disabled On date has occurred, the user will need to re-enabled the metric. Navigate to the Tip Share Maintenance page.
Click on a Tip Share Category tab.
Click Cancel Change.
Store Level Tip Categories - Distribution Interval
Adjustments to the store level tip pool categories will override the client-level configuration. These steps take place in the NEW Stores Maintenance page rather than the Tip Share Maintenance page. First, the admin will determine the Distribution Interval before enabling a Tip Share Category for a store.
Begin by navigating to:
Maintenance > Company > NEW Stores Maintenance
Click on a Store.
Click the Tip Share Distribution tab.
Click Edit in the Distribution section.
Select the Distribution Interval from the dropdown:
Daily. This is the default option.
Labor Week
Payroll Cycle
Select the Effective Date. There is a 2 day minimum before the change can take effect.
Click Save.
Cancel Distribution Interval
Admins can cancel a scheduled distribution interval change before the effective day takes place.
Click on a Store.
Click the Tip Share Distribution tab.
Click Cancel Change.
Store Level Tip Categories - Enable
Adjustments to the store level tip pool categories will override the client-level configuration. These steps take place in the NEW Stores Maintenance page rather than the Tip Share Maintenance page. First, the admin will determine the Distribution Interval before enabling a Tip Share Category for a store.

Click on a Store.
Click the Tip Share Distribution tab.

Click on a Store.
Click the Tip Share Distribution tab.

Add Labor Roles
Adjustments to the store level tip pool labor roles will override the client-level configuration. These steps take place in the NEW Stores Maintenance page rather than the Tip Share Maintenance page. By default, all Labor Roles will be enabled. Admins can disable or remove labor roles in the Tip Share Maintenance page to impact client-wide, or they can adjust the labor roles at each store level. This section shows you how to add specific roles to stores, rather than at the entire client-level.
Begin by navigating to:
Maintenance > Company > NEW Stores Maintenance
Click on a Store.
Click the Tip Share Distribution tab.
Click +Add in the Labor Roles section.
Select the Labor Role from the dropdown.
Select the Effective On date. There is a 2 day minimum before the change can take effect.
Click Add.
Cancel Labor Roles
Admins can cancel a scheduled enablement datel change before the effective day takes place.
Click on a Store.
Click the Tip Share Distribution tab.
Click Cancel Change.
