How do I manage Non-Comparison (Non-Comp) store data?

This article shows DL Admins how to manage stores whose data should be hidden from a specific date range when looking at comparison-related reporting.

Overview

The Non-Comp Maintenance page allows users with ‘Enter’ or ‘Change’ permissions to manage data this is displayed in the Current Sales and History Report for stores that do not want to have data comparison to previous timeframes, such as week, period, or year in the store rollup view. Non-Comp is short for non-comparison in terms of data displayed.

Clients must have at least one field configured which utilizes the Non-Comp flag within Current Sales & History for the Non-Comp Maintenance page settings to display accurately for the Current Sales & History Report.

Please contact your Decision Logic Administrator, Account Manager, or request the flag configuration via the Decision Logic Service Center.

Selecting specific date ranges and stores affects the Current Sales and History’s Rollup view by removing data that would compare a store’s sales against itself. Decision Logic will flag a store who has defined a Non-Comp date range by including “NC” within the store’s name.

Restricting date ranges of sales data may benefit stores who are using the Current Sales & History Report to manage budget, labor scheduling, and other forecasting needs to run a successful operation.

Below are a few examples of why a store may want to define date ranges to hide sales data for comparison:

  • New store openings. Often, new store openings have an influx of sales that may skew the historical pattern moving forward when looking at specific date ranges, such as their first 6 months of opening.

  • Store closure. If a store must close its doors for an extended period of time, such as repairing damages or remodeling, the lack of sales would impact future historical trends during the closure’s date range.
