How do employees Swap Shifts on the Employee Central mobile app?

This article shows employees how to release a scheduled shift and pick up other shifts, including house shifts.

Overview

Employees can offer any shift to other team members if they share the same job code—for example, dish, bartender, server, etc. Additionally, employees can pick up an available shift.

When requesting to swap shifts or pick up an available shift, managers must approve the change request for the updated shift to appear in the Employee Central mobile app. Accepting a shift does not automatically update their schedule until the manager approves the change.

Release A Scheduled Shift

  1. Log in to the Employee Central mobile application.

  2. Tap the Shift you want to give up (release) from My Shifts.

  3. Tap the team member(s) to whom you want to offer the shift. Team members must share the same job code as the sift being released.

    1. Tap Next.

    2. Tap Cancel to cancel the request.

  4. Enter a Reason you are offering up the shift.

  5. Tap Send Request.

    1. Tap Cancel to cancel the request.

A message will appear when a shift change request is created successfully. Employees will see the Pending icon indicating that a manager needs to approve the request. The employee must let the manager know that a request was sent.

Pick Up An Available Shift

Employees can see shifts offered to them from the Available Shifts menu option. You can only pick up shifts if you share that shift’s job code. Managers must approve the shift pick-up before it appears on the employee’s schedule.

  1. Log in to the Employee Central mobile application.

  2. Tap Menu.

  3. Tap Available Shifts.

  4. Tap an Available Shift. Employees must be assigned the job code to the available shift.

  5. Tap Accept. Accepting will require approval from a manager and will appear on My Shifts if approved. Tapping Back will not accept the shift and bring users back to the menu.
